Last week we used the Chatterpix app to bring this project to life! Using ipads, students drew a personified picture of their crayon and recorded their voice reading their opinion why they are the best color. Check out our project below!

Opinion Chatterpix Project
Over the past few weeks in Writer’s
Workshop students have been diligently working on their The Day the Crayons Quit opinion
piece. We have worked with an O.R.E.O. graphic organizer to make sure our reasons and opinions matched, and that we used strong feeling words to strengthen our opinion. We have some very creative and
innovative writers in our class!

Dash: Robot Training
Our second graders were so excited to have Mr. Guditus, the district's Director of Educational Technology, come in last Wednesday to introduce us to DASH, our new robot friend. The kids used basic block coding to guide Dash to move, dance, and speak. We can't wait to experiment more with Dash in the future!
February is for Friendship
During class meeting last Friday we discussed friendship. We decided that in the month of February, our class would celebrate friendship.
We have started a new incentive plan in our classroom where any teacher working in our classroom will provide positive reinforcement with a 'pink ticket' each time we see a child being kind, helpful, and respectful to a friend or friends.
When we come together for class meeting again in two weeks, we will reflect on our goal. Your students are doing a great job with this plan and we already see so much kindness in just a few days!
If a child receives a ticket, they write their name on it and put the ticket in a bucket for a daily drawing. At the end of each day, I will pick one ticket and reward the student's good behavior with either a phone call, email, or positive note home.
