Global Day of Design!

Last Tuesday the students in our class participated in Global Day of Design! "The Global Day of Design is one-day that focuses on using the Design Thinking process in school. Our goal for the Global Day of Design is to inspire a transformation in schools around the world to incorporate design into an every day practice with our students." For more information visit: globaldayofdesign.com!

Mrs. Lacouriere, our ELA specialist assisted me in planning, teaching, and coordinating the design of this fun morning. Together, we chose a STEM Challenge that was linked to children's literature: Curious George: Helping the Monkey Stay Afloat!

Here are some fun photos of the design process:

March: FUN!

March's Life Is Good Superpower is FUN! We have been having FUN celebrating the life of famous author Theodore Seuss Geisel this month. On March 2nd, we invited Mr. LaCava, assistant superintendent, into our classroom to read a fun Dr. Seuss book to our class.

Mr. LaCava came in to visit on 'Crazy Hat Day'!
Thank you to Mrs. Hagerty (Brooke's Mom) for helping to decorate our classroom door with the Seuss theme "Oh the Thinks You Can Think!" So many students and teachers have stopped to check out our FUN door!

This week we reflected on what we love to do for FUN and wrote an acrostic poem! These poems are on display in our hallway!

FUN acrostic poems!
This week, students also performed a carousel activity where they moved around the classroom and used positive character traits to describe their classmates. We used these adjectives to design a creative word cloud. With the help of Mrs. Klipfel, students used the website Tagul and chose their own shape, font, and colors for their cloud. Students loved sharing their masterpieces with their classmates. We are proudly displaying this FUN project in the hallway next to our classroom door.

We look forward to celebrating many more FUN days this school year!

February: LOVE

February's Life Is Good Superpower was LOVE! Our class celebrates friendship and mutual respect on a daily basis, and it is fun to have a special month to recognize these important qualities in each other.

This month, we reflected on ways we demonstrate love to ourselves, our classmates and friends, and our family. We decorated a bulletin board on our hallway to help remind others to spread the LOVE!
